About Dr. Lau

Dr. Tanya Lau of Mission Viejo Optometric Center in Mission Viejo, California was born and raised in San Francisco and has been living in Southern California since 2012. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz and double majored in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and Psychology. She earned her doctorate in optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum in 2016. She completed her professional internships at Lawton Indian Health Hospital in Oklahoma, Palo Alto Veteran Affairs in California, and Camp Zama United States Armed Forces in Japan.

Dr. Lau is a glaucoma certified optometrist and is able to diagnose, treat, and manage ocular conditions, including dry eye syndromes, various red eyes, and ocular allergies. She also has experience working alongside ophthalmologists managing LASIK and cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

One of Dr. Lau’s passions is community service. She has dedicated her time to local vision screenings and different volunteer efforts within the area. In addition, she has volunteered internationally with different organizations in Honduras, El Salvador, and Tanzania delivering healthcare to adults and children over the years.

Dr. Lau is dedicated to providing quality care and education to patients of their vision and eye health. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors hiking, snowboarding, and going to the beach. She also enjoys traveling, cooking, and eating all types of food.
